How DEFENSE and MAGIC SHIELD are calculated in Adventure Mode

Hello adventurer!

If you ever wondered how DEFENSE works, I'll make a brief explanation here!

IN ADVENTURE MODE
To begin with, in PvE (Adventure Mode), you're currently the only character with an active DEFENSE in place (DEF from now on), but as long as you progress, your opponents may also have a DEF value in place.

The role of DEF is to directly decrease the physical damage* received from your opponent, same goes for your opponent, which can defend itself if he has a DEF value higher than 0.

You can't immediately find out, but in the "Undergrounds", you'll find a detailed description of every creature you discovered, including their statistics, like HP and DMG (their attack value).

BASIC EXAMPLE (DEF)

So, to explain you how DEF is calculated, let's make an example with a creature which deals 60 DMG.

If you had 0 DEF, all the DMG would go through, and you'd lose 60 HP (Health Points) as a result.

Luckily, you'll get stronger and stronger by playing, and every time you'll level up, your DEF value will increase by 10.

So, assuming your current level is 5, your total DEF would be:

5 * 10 = 50 DEF

This, translated in simple math, would mean that if such creature with 60 DMG tried to attack you, you would now receive:

60 - 50 = 10 DMG

Please also note that, if the calculation would give 0 DMG, you would still receive the MINIMUM GAME DAMAGE which is currently 1.

ADVANCED EXAMPLE (MAGIC SHIELD)

Now, let's make things a bit more interesting. DEF isn't the only way to defend yourself from your opponent. There's another useful feature called "MAGIC SHIELD", which is triggered when using some special skills.

MAGIC SHIELD is a temporary BONUS which, exactly like DEF, directly reduces the physical damage* received by your opponent, but please note it's TEMPORARY, meaning it will DECREASE every time your opponent attacks you, and will reset to 0 at the start of a match.

Normally, assuming you currently have 50 SHIELD, we'd still make the same calculation as before:

60 - 50 = 10 DMG

But now, your MAGIC SHIELD will also be reduced by 50, hence you would now have 0 MAGIC SHIELD.

So, what happens on next turn?

If you have 0 MAGIC SHIELD, the entire damage will go through, and your only way to reduce it will be your DEF value, as usual, but you can eventually use another special skill, such as "Magic Barrier" which increases your MAGIC SHIELD, so you'd restore your MAGIC SHIELD and get protected on next attacks, too.

*physical damage excludes POISON and BURN damage, which is considered as SPECIAL DAMAGE, and isn't reduced by DEF or MAGIC SHIELD.

I hope this guide was easy to follow and understand. If not, or if you do have any questions, please feel free to write below :)
Good luck!
